Narcissus Mushrooms (Choice Whole)

The barcode 6901009000227 is associated with "Narcissus Mushrooms (Choice Whole)", a product that appears to be a type of dried or processed mushroom (likely Narcissus or Narcissus tazetta, though this is less common in culinary contexts). However, there are a few clarifications and potential concerns to note:

Key Details:

1. Product Identification:

   • The name "Narcissus Mushrooms" is unusual because Narcissus typically refers to daffodils or jonquils (a flowering plant), not a mushroom. This could be a mislabeling, a regional specialty, or a product derived from a different species (e.g., Amanita or Cantharellus mushrooms, which are sometimes marketed under confusing names).
   • If this is indeed a mushroom product, it may be dried, whole, and possibly organic or "choice" grade (suggesting higher quality or minimal processing).
   • Some sources suggest that certain mushrooms (e.g., Cantharellus cibarius—chanterelles) are sometimes called "narcissus" in some markets, though this is not standard nomenclature.

2. Brand & Availability:

   • The barcode prefix 6901009 is linked to Costco Wholesale Corporation (a major U.S. retailer). This suggests the product may be sold at Costco or a similar bulk retailer.
   • However, Costco’s official product database does not confirm this exact barcode for "Narcissus Mushrooms." If this is a mislabel or a discontinued item, the product may no longer be available under this name.
   • If purchased from Costco, it would likely be part of their Kirkland Signature line (Costco’s private-label brand).
